Vitamins can be beneficial to help improve overall health and supplement a vitamin deficiency, however, not all are safe or effective. Dr. Hascalovici tells us, “With the current focus on micronutrients and wellness, it can often seem like taking a multivitamin might help, or at least might not hurt. Dr. Hascalovici suggests, “You should only buy vitamins from reputable brands with good ratings that regularly perform third-party testing to ensure the quality and safety of their products. Look for vitamins that don’t contain many additives or fillers, and beware. vague or extravagant promises.”
Dr. Hascalovici reveals: “Food colors and artificial food colors are incorporated into many things (not just vitamins), but they are still not necessarily welcome additives. Although you will likely stay below the recommended intake levels of these dyes if you only get them with your vitamins, you can also get these dyes from your everyday foods. exposure to light, degradation and other issues.”
According to Dr. Hascalovici, “It’s a type of preservative, but when sodium benzoate is combined with vitamin C, it can turn into benzene, a carcinogen. So avoid multivitamins or other vitamins containing vitamin C which also contain sodium benzoate.”
